Overview

Read Me When (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is built by Build Incredibles. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles, how, and why. The short version: we collect almost nothing, and what we do store stays only on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

The app requires no account, no sign-in, and no personal details of any kind to function.

We do not collect:

Your name, email address, or contact details
Your advertising ID or any hardware device identifier
Your precise or approximate location

Analytics

The app uses PostHog, a product analytics provider, to understand how people use the app so we can improve it. This is limited to anonymous usage data tied to a random ID generated on your device when you install the app — never your name, email, or any other identifying information.

What's tracked:

Which screens you view and which emotion or verse you tap on
Whether you bookmark, share, or save a verse
Settings changes (theme, haptics, notifications) and widget usage

Analytics are disabled entirely in development builds, we don't use IP addresses to derive your location, and PostHog never receives your name, email, or any personal information.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The app stores a small amount of data in your device's local storage (AsyncStorage) to remember your preferences between sessions. This data never leaves your device.

Locally stored data includes:

Dark mode preference (on/off)
Color accent preference
Show Arabic text preference (on/off)
Haptic feedback preference (on/off)
Your bookmarked verse IDs
Whether you have completed the onboarding flow

You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the app.

Quranic Content

The Quranic verses displayed in the app use the Saheeh International English translation, which is in the public domain. No external API calls are made to retrieve verse content — all data is bundled within the app itself.

Third-Party Services

The app does not integrate with any advertising SDKs, and there are no crash-reporting or data-broker services present. See “Analytics” above for the one third-party service the app does use.

Besides PostHog, the only network operation the app may perform is opening an external URL (such as the Play Store for rating, or your email client for support) when you explicitly tap a link.

This website (readmewhen.buildincredibles.com) also uses PostHog, separately, for anonymous page-view analytics. No personally identifiable information is collected. Page view events are used solely to understand how users discover the app.

Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from any user, the app is safe for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
